The CAVE Book Club was formed during the 2018-2019 year as a monthly meeting for students to share their thoughts on books they've enjoyed and to read a book as a group. The Book Club continued in the 2019-2020 school year with the addition of the Creative Writing Club.
Book Club is a place to share your love of reading. In past years, we've decided on a list of books to read with students having the option to attend the meetings for books they were most interested in and to opt out of ones they preferred not to read. Students can check books out at their library, borrow from friends, or find them online. I'm happy to help if a student is having trouble locating a book.
Creative Writing Club is a place to share creative writing interests, from poetry to short stories to novels to song lyrics and anything else you enjoy writing! An average meeting involves watching a short video related to a writing skill based on student suggestion, participation in a timed writing prompt, and sharing questions, thoughts, and ideas about writing. You can share your work if you like or just absorb the words of others-- it's up to you and your individual comfort level.
